TISCH TAUSENDFÜßLER

Tisch Tausendfüßler, the caterpillar table,  is a surreal construct manifested as a coffee table. It speaks of a  concrete cloud lined with brass suspended over a wooden hillside  by dozens of trees.

The body consists of a 6” American walnut CNC milled to form a simplified landscape. Landscape is a t-spline approximation of a Spanish hillside simplified with a Delaunay triangulation. The Mirror of this landscape is used to form the base of a 1’ concrete table top held up by 125 dowels with ¼” diameter. Dowels are encased behind a ¼” heat formed acrylic sheet. The top of the table is adorned with ¼” deep brass ornamentation.
