ERDENRAST
ErdenRast is a pavilion, nestled within the agrarian setting of the Handschuhsheimer Feld in Heidelberg, Germany.
Characterized by an open form and overhanging roof, the pavilion serves as a local waypoint inviting visitors to sit, rest, reflect, and enjoy the landscape, fostering a connection not only with nature but also with one another.
Constructed using stabilized rammed earth sourced directly from the very soil that nurtures the surrounding farms, the pavilion functions as a natural extension of the land, a tactile link between the environment and its people, where visitors can slowdown to experience the rhythms of agrarian life, observe the bonds between agriculture and community, emphasizing how the land sustains both.
The project is the first in a series emphasizing the notions of placemaking, resilience and environmental stewardship
